The Kinder Morgan Pipeline Investigation

The Kinder Morgan Pipeline Investigation Materials were last updated in 2018. The firm no longer plans to update the website materials due to time constraints and expense. Time permitting, the firm will continue to post updated information on the firm’s social media pages, including LinkedIn and Facebook.

Attorney Shawn O'Neil began looking into the Kinder Morgan Pipeline in July 2014. The focus of Shawn’s investigation is on the physical integrity of the pipeline, its safety record, and the adequacy of government oversight. The investigation also centers on the effectiveness of emergency planning, safety and disaster response training, and communication between key public and private entities responsible for protecting the communities along the pipeline.

Shawn’s investigation is still ongoing. However, in an effort to begin informing and educating those concerned residents and communities living near or directly along the pipeline, Shawn is releasing on his website a significant portion of the information he has collected to date.

On January 3, 2017, Shawn was informed that PHMSA had just completed an integrated inspection of the pipeline, which began in 2014. As a result of this inspection, a warning letter was issued to Kinder Morgan for violating federal safety regulations. Shawn is in the process of pursuing these recent inspection records through the Freedom of Information Act.
